Abstract

1429216 Spark ignition devices BRAUN A G 9 July 1973 [10 April 1973] 32631/73 Heading F1B [Also in Divisions H3 to H5] A blocking oscillator 5, 9, used to drive the spark gap 22 of a cigarette lighter, has its oscillations initiated by turning on a transistor 15 to modify the base bias circuit of T5 for a time determined by the charging of a capacitor 16. A switch 10 is operated, to remove the short circuit from C16 and apply the battery potential to line 20. T15 base current charges C16 and the resulting voltage across R4 while T15 is on biases T5 on. A capacitor 14 is charged by secondary 8 of transformer 9 through full wave rectifier D12, D13, Feedback winding 7, and stored energy in the transformer secondary 8 when D13 blocks, maintain oscillations until a breakdown device such as thyristor 23 discharges C14 into the spark transformer 24. The oscillator then stops until the switch is released and re-operated.
