Abstract

981,464. Spark erosion. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERK A.G. and ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS GESELLSCHAFT. Aug. 10, 1962 [Aug. 12, 1961], No. 30767/62. Heading B3V. In a spark erosion apparatus having an energy storage means 7 charged from a primary supply source, a secondary source 8 is connected across the gap 6 and after de-ionization thereof the resulting build-up in voltage across the gap actuates means 12, 13 to trigger the charging of the storage means 7. Source 1 is preferably D.C. and is connected to capacitor 7 through switch 13 which may be a thermionic valve, transistor, or gas filled discharge tube such as a thyratron and is controlled by voltage responsive means 12. An inductor 5 is in series with the gap 6. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) an auxiliary capacitor is connected across the gap and a rectifier is inserted between the inductor 5 and capacitor 7. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3, the switch 13 is a transistor triggered by a second transistor 12 whose emitter is connected to the junction of a potential divider 17, 18 forming the secondary voltage source.
