Abstract

1302102 Inverting PILLAR CORP 21 April 1970 [9 May 1969] 19120/70 Heading H2F A high frequency supply for an inductive load 14 tuned by capacitor 16 comprises a capacitor 20 charged via an impedance 30 under control of a controlled rectifier 28 and discharged by means of a switching device 34 and via a further inductor 36 into the inductive load 14 and including means such as diode 39 or the diode shown in broken line to limit the forward voltage across the controlled rectifier 28. The inductive load 14 may be tuned (e.g. to 10 kHz) to three times the pulsing rate of controlled rectifiers 28, 34. In Fig. 5, the controlled rectifier 34 is replaced by two saturable reactors arranged to discharge two capacitors sequentially into the load 10. The invention is applicable to induction heating.
