Abstract
749,301. Supply systems for discharge lamps; condenser arrangements. LACEY, C. L. March 27, 1951 [March 27, 1950], No. 7609/50. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). A condenser for use with a photo-flash lamp is charged through a rectifier from an A.C. source over a transformer having a winding which is tapped and associated with a selector switch to allows pre-selection of the voltage to which the condenser is charged. Triggering of the lamp may be effected by discharging an auxiliary condenser into a transformer associated with the trigger electrode of the lamp, the auxiliary condenser normally being on charge from the main condenser through a resistor in series with the primary winding of the trigger transformer. A neon stabilizer tube maintains constant the voltage applied to the auxiliary condenser. The lamp, trigger transformer and auxiliary condenser may form a unit, one or more such units being readily attachable to and detachable electrically from a main unit including the tapped transformer, selector switch, rectifier, main condenser and neon tube. A further unit may add to the capacity of the main condenser to allow the use of a larger number of lamps.
