Abstract
781,794. Valves. BRYAN DONKIN CO., Ltd. March 2, 1955 [Sept. 21, 1954], No. 6214/55. Class 135. A valve plate h with an aperture which may be brought into register with the passage through the valve coacts with seatings a which are pressed against the plate h by elastic rings d and may be pressed apart to facilitate assembly of the valve plate between the seatings by a pair of diametrically opposite wedges which are driven by screw-threaded rods between opposed inclined surfaces n on carrier rings c for the seatings a, the wedges being removed after assembly. The seatings are removable from the body of the valve without disconnecting the latter from piping after removal of a cover i and the valve plate h. The carrier rings c mount elastic rings f which urge covers g against the valve plate h to prevent dirt &c. from the controlled passage from falling to the bottom of the valve housing. To position the carrier rings c such that the elastic rings f press the plates g against the valve plate h further wedges are used to engage inclined faces m on the carrier plates which are then locked in their adjusted positions by members u after which the wedges are removed. In a modification, the carrier plates are omitted, the plates g being carried directly by the seatings a.
