Abstract

780,159. Wringers. LOVELL MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 23, 1956 [Feb. 4, 1955], No. 2142/56. Class 138 (2). High and low pressures are applied to the rollers 16, 17 of a wringer when a bail 28 is in the full line and dotted line positions respectively, side arms 27 of the bail being operatively connected to the ends 21 of a shaft having an offset portion 20 co-operating with the centre of a leaf spring 18 whose ends 19 apply pressure to the wringer roll bearings 15, and the ends 21 of this shaft being journalled in depending side walls 22 of a top bar 5. A non-circular tongue 24 on one end of the shaft fits into a correspondingly-shaped slot in a die casting 26 on one of the side arms 27 of the bail 28. Resilient washers 30 exert a snubbing action on the bail which is provided with a hand-grip portion 29. The ends of the bail are held in engagement with the ends 21 of the shaft by the inherent resilience of the side arms of the bail.
