743,084. Roller weighting mechanism. ESTIRAJES BALMES SOC. ANON. May 26, 1954 [May 27, 1953], No. 14708/53. Class 120 (2). A saddle weighting mechanism for the top drafting rollers of spinning &c. machines of the type having three top rollers weighted by spring means and a fourth top roller selfweighted, comprises a saddle B<SP>1</SP> bearing on the top front roller a and on a further top roller a<SP>1</SP>, a member or lever C<SP>4</SP> pivoted to the saddle intermediate the front and further top rollers to rest on the top rear roller a<SP>2</SP>, an actuating lever C<SP>5</SP>, to apply and relieve the loading to or from the saddle mechanism, having a cam or eccentric end C<SP>4</SP>, a weight hook rod D pivoted on the pivot of the actuating lever and a leaf spring F mounted below the rollers and connected by a rod D<SP>1</SP> to the weight hook by which pressure is applied through the saddle to the lines of rollers. As shown, loading is applied to the three roller pairs a, a<SP>3</SP>, a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>4</SP> and a<SP>2</SP>, a<SP>5</SP>, whilst the fourth pair of rollers a<SP>6</SP>, a<SP>7</SP> is selfweighted. To relieve the load on the rollers a, a<SP>1</SP> and a2 the lever C<SP>5</SP> is rotated about its pivot which permits the spring F to lower the rods D<SP>1</SP> and D and the pivot point c<SP>1</SP> until the nut d<SP>3</SP> contacts the member A<SP>1</SP>. A hole c<SP>7</SP> is provided in the lever C<SP>4</SP> by which and a suitable pin, loading may be relieved from the roller a<SP>1</SP> for treatment of long fibres. Loading may also be applied to the two rollers a and a<SP>1</SP> only, with the rear roller a<SP>2</SP> removed if desired. The front roller a can be removed for cleaning purposes and to prevent the forward end of the saddle from falling when the roller a is removed the saddle B<SP>1</SP> is formed with a portion b<SP>8</SP> which will contact the weighting rod D.
