743,099. Roller weighting mechanism- ESTIRAJES BALMES SOC. ANON. May 26, 1954 [Dec. 3, 1953], No. 33565/53. Divided out of 743,084. Class 120 (2). A saddle weighting mechanism for the top drafting rollers of machines of the type having three top rollers weighted by spring means and a fourth top roller self-weighted comprises a saddle B bearing on the top front roller a, a lever C pivoted on the saddle and bearing on a further top roller a<SP>1</SP>, a second lever C<SP>1</SP> pivoted on the first lever and bearing on the rear top roller a<SP>2</SP>, an actuating lever C<SP>3</SP>, for applying and releasing the pressure on the rollers, pivoted on the second lever C<SP>1</SP>, a weight hook rod D pivoted on the pivot of the actuating lever and a leaf spring F mounted below the rollers and connected by a rod D<SP>1</SP> to the weight hook rod D, by which pressure is applied through the saddle to the lines of rollers. As shown, the mechanism is in the " loaded " position. To. " unload " the mechanism the lever C3 is swung forward. This, due to the eccentric surface at the end of the lever, allows the spring F to pull the rods D and D<SP>1</SP> downwards until the locknut d3 engages the top of a channel-shaped member A<SP>1</SP>, thus releasing the spring load on the rods. To relieve the loading on the roller a<SP>1</SP> whilst still loading the front and rear rollers when treating long fibres, a pin may be inserted through a hole in lever C to engage the saddle in such a manner that the lever is held'out of engagement with the roller shaft.
