[Also in Group XVI] The receiving roll 14, Fig. 6, of a recording apparatus is provided with a clamping member 38 for securing the end of the travelling record sheet, the member 38 being capable of limited rotational and axial movement along a rod 33 secured in an aperture 30 in the roll 14 and being provided with a clip portion 40 normally urged by a spring 45 into the position shown in Fig. 11, where the clip 40 clamps the record sheet against the surface of the roll. In this clamping position, the turned over ends of lugs 42, 43 engage in slots 35, 36 in the base of the aperture 30 but on axial movement into the position shown in Fig. 6 the lugs ride out of these slots, camming the member 38 by rotation about the rod 33 against the spring 45 into the release position shown in Fig. 10. A bracket 18 may be pivoted on the axis of the roll 14 so that it can be turned into engagement with the record sheet to facilitate cutting thereof with a knife 50, a groove to guide the knife point beng provided.
