Abstract
781,926. Devices for guiding and holding wire, yarn &c. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Oct. 10, 1955 [Oct. 8, 1954], No. 29081/54. Class 120(2) [Also in Group XXXV] A device for guiding the movement of a wire or thread and holding the wire or thread against movement relative to the device when required, comprises a hookended part 1 arranged to work in conjunction with a seating 12, the wire 10 being arranged to run round the part 1 when the part 1 is clear of the seating 12 and being arranged to be trapped and held when the part 1 is pulled into the seating 12. The surface of the seating 12 may be frusto-conical and the part 1 have a co-operating surface shaped to fit into the seating. The part 1 may be spring- biased into the seating 12 so as normally to be in the wire, clamping position, and the force of the spring bias, and hence the tightness with which the wire is held, may be adjustable. In the preferred embodiment, the surface of the frusto-conical seating makes an angle of 45 degrees with the direction of motion of the part 1 with respect to the seating 12.
