Abstract

993,674. Bobbin holders. MASCHINENFABRIK SCHWEITER A.G. Feb. 28, 1963 [March 1, 1962], No. 8156/63. Heading D1J. A tube holder which is adapted to support tube members of varying internal diameter and which has particular application in textile machines, e.g. for supporting bobbins and the like during unwinding operations, comprises a spindle body 5 and a toggle lever arrangement 16, 8 associated therewith which in operation secures and positions the tube member (e.g. H or H<SP>1</SP>) so that whatever its diameter the axis thereof (e.g.A or A<SP>1</SP>) is directed to a common point P. In its "inline" or extended position the toggle levers 16 and 8 lie wholly within a slot in the spindle body. In the working position a tension spring 11 acting on a lever arm 9 which is pivotally mounted on a pin 6 and which forms an extension of the toggle lever 8 deflects the toggle levers so that the tube member is gripped and aligned by the ends 16a and 19a of the lever 16 as shown in Fig.4. The end portion 19a deflects the tube wall away from the spindle body proportionally to the diameter of the tube to align the axis with the point P. To release and replace a tube a system of levers (Fig. 3 not shown) raises the arm 9 into contact with a stop 14, which contact coincides with the point at which the toggle lever reaches the in-line position in the slot in the spindle body. The tube is thus no longer gripped by the toggle lever. Continued movement of the arm 9 causes the spindle body and toggle levers to pivot as a unit about the pin 2 to an inclined position (Fig. 2 not shown) in which removal and replacement of the tube member is facilitated.
