Abstract

464,993. Winding yarns. LEEDHAM, L. H., COLEY, J., and WILDT & CO., Ltd. Nov. 8, 1935, No. 30966. [Class 120 (ii)] The end of a bobbin is supported in a yarnwinding machine by an end or top steady coprising a steady pin movably mounted on a support which is movable towards and away from the bobbin, the pin being urged towards and into engagement with the bobbin by a spring or other means. As shown, the pin 22 is mounted on a ball bearing at the end of a pin 24 secured in an arm 13 which has a bifurcated end 14 straddling a bracket 11 fixed to the machine frame 10. The end 14 pivots on a pin 15 having a squared part engaging a slot 16 in the bracket so that the arm may be adjusted towards or away from the bobbin 12 and secured in position by a nut 21. A spring 27 disposed between the top of the bracket and a projection 25 on the arm forces the steady pin into engagement with the bobbin and a second projection 26 may be provided to limit the pivotal movement of the arm when the bobbin is removed ; the arm may be provided with a finger piece 29. The spring 27 may be omitted and the arm locked in position by a catch and the arm may be pivoted in a saddle piece capable of being clamped in various positions along a guide or bracket.
