Abstract

779,206. Reservoir pens. PERRY, Ltd., E. S. July 8, 1955 [Jan. 28, 1955], No. 2645/55. Class 146(3). A reservoir pen comprises a strip metal feedbar 3 which forms with the nib 2 a longitudinal groove 6 constituting a combined ink and air duct, the feed-bar 3 being held in'position by inserting the tails of the superimposed feed-bar and nib in the mouth of the reservoir and inserting a sealing plug 4 between the tails and mouth. As shown, the feed-bar 3 has a groove 6 of substantially elliptical or semi-elliptica. shape and a flat portion 7, which corresponds tc the shape of the nib adjacent its point and terminates in a point 9. Wings 8 on the feedbar co-operate with an extension 5 of the plug 4 to form spaces constituting ink ducts. The plug, feed-bar and nib may fit within a threaded sleeve 1 thus forming a unit which can be readily removed from the reservoir and interchanged for another. The plug 4 may be moulded, e.g. from cellulose aceto-butyrate and may have a groove 11 and slots 13 which receive ears 14 on the feed-bar. In a modification, the ink duct between the feed-bar and nib may be formed by a flat feed-bar co-operating with an arched feed-bar, by an arched feed-bar and a nib having a flat at the base of its concavity, or a feed-bar having a shallower concavity than the nib.
