Abstract
739,284. Reservoir pens. LAMY, C. J. April 16, 1953 [May 8, 1952], No. 10472/53. Class 146(3). In a reservoir pen in which overflow ink spaces are provided axially of the feed-bar, the spaces 12 are provided, at the rear of the nib 20, radially in the nib section 6. The spaces 12 communicate with an ink groove 8 in the feed bar 3 only through capillary grooves 13. Air ducts 9 and 10 are provided in the feed bar, the ducts being connected by channels 11 and 11a. The spaces 12 communicate with the atmosphere through the channels 11 and 11a and duct 10, while air is supplied to the reservoir through the duct 10, grooves 13, and duct 9. In order to reduce flooding through the opening 14 at the front of the nib section 6 a deflection plate 15, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) may close the duct 10. A transverse channel 19 may be provided in the forward end of the feed bar to permit an even distribution of ink on the underside of the nib. The longitudinal edges of the nib may be supported on ledges Fig. 10, (not shown), to prevent twisting.
