Class 39(2) An electric torch is provided with a pair of auxiliary external contacts in the form of two spaced metal fingers 32, 33 projecting radially from an opening in the cylindrical casing 10 and mounted on contact strips 18, 23 extending longitudinally within the casing, the front end 20 of the strip 18 being inturned to lie between the centre contact of a bulb 13 and the centre terminal of a battery, whilst the strip 23 is connected at its rear end to a spring 30 in contact with the bottom pole of the battery and at its other end co-operates with a sliding switch contact 25 which can be operated to connect strip 23 to the rear end of a strip 24 mounted so that its forward end 26 engages a metal wing 28 forming one of a pair extending rearwardly from a reflector 27. 'The auxiliary contacts 32, 33 are located within a housing 14 provided with inlet slits to receive contact members on a plug 16. The switch 25 controls the bulb circuit in the usual manner, but not the external circuit embodying the contacts 32, 33.
