Abstract

1,030,091. Socket housings. PRESSAC Ltd. Jan. 7, 1965 [Jan. 15, 1964], No. 1755/64. Heading H2E. Open ended tubular insulating housings 1 (Fig. 2) are made more resilient by making two parallel slits 3 in the wall of each housing, to form a strip 4 which bows outwardly when a socket contact is inserted. A projecting portion 5 (Fig. 3, not shown) on the strips 4 snaps into position behind part of the socket after the latter has been inserted, and an inwardlydirected flange 9 (Fig. 3, not shown) provided at the mouth of the housing, prevents forward movement of the socket. A set of any required number of housings may be obtained by cutting through the integral rib 2 and web 2a at the appropriate points. With the junction web 2a as shown the rib 2 may be bent as shown so as to bring the opposite ends of the housings 1 closer together to accommodate contact pins which are positioned closer together. Alternatively the rib 2 may be bent to form a circle from which the housings 1 extend radially.
