Abstract

779,020. Pallets for handling loads. REED CORRUGATED CASES, Ltd., [formerly THOMPSON & NORRIS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd.]. Dec. 6, 1955 [Dec. 6, 1954], No. 35258/54. Class 78 (4). The feet 4 of a pallet are formed of several layers or convolutions of corrugated cardboard or similar material and each is secured to the deck of the pallet by members 7, 8 extending through the foot. As illustrated, each member 7, 8 comprises a sheet metal strip the ends of which are passed through slots 9 in the deck 1 of the pallet and bent over as indicated in broken lines at 10. In an alternative construction, however, intended especially for single-sided pallets, the strips 7, 8 are replaced by a single U-shaped strip, with the bridge of the U engaging the base of the foot 3. The foot may be surrounded by a sleeve 5 of adhesive tape or paper glued or stapled into position or the block may be confined in a double-walled corrugated-cardboard box. The legs may be circular instead of rectangular in cross-section.
