Abstract

638,033. Load-handling pallets. ADDISONSEMMES CORPORATION. July 25, 1947, No. 20162. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1945. [Class 78 (iv)] A load-handling pallet comprises a platform having secured on one face a plurality of supporting blocks each comprising a number of juxtaposed layers of corrugated cardboard or like material adhesively secured together with their corrugations disposed substantially perpendicular to the platform. In the embodiment shown, the pallet comprises a base 15 and platform 16 spaced by blocks 24. The members 15, 16 each comprise cardboard sheets 17, 18 separated by a corrugated structure built-up of elements 20 secured together by adhesive, each element comprising two flat strips 21 with a corrugated strip 22 secured between them by adhesive, the corrugations of the strips being perpendicular to the sheets 17, 18. The blocks 24 each comprise sections 24a, 24b secured to a cardboard sheet 25, each of these sections being built-up of elements similar to the elements 20, and being closed at their ends by sheets 26, 29 respectively. The corrugated strips of the section 24a are at rightangles to those of the section 24b. In a modification, Figs. 8, 9, a cylindrical block 40 is formed by winding a composite strip on itself, the strip comprising a corrugated cardboard strip 39 secured to a strip 38. The strip may be wound so as to form a rectangular block. The base 15 and the platform 16 may be similarly formed. The block 40 may be formed in two or more sections. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7, the platform 32 is provided with blocks 33, 34 which are staggered relatively to one another.
