Abstract

695,248. Load-handling pallets. ADDISONSEMMES CORPORATION. June 25, 1951. [Aug. 11, 1950] No. 15061/51. Class 78 (iv). The legs of a pallet are formed by folding a sheet of paper stock 13 concertina fashion as indicated in Fig. 3 to form a block which is secured by an adhesive such as sodium silicate applied to both faces of the sheet before folding or by adhesively securing a strip, of paper around the block after it has been folded. The strip is preferably of double-walled corrugated paper board and may be transported, scored alternately at 12 on each side but unfolded, for assembly by the user. The corrugations may run transversely or longitudinally of the sheet, but the block is secured to the pallet with the corrugations perpendicular to the deck. The blocks may space the two decks of a double-faced pallet as shown in Fig. 7 where the decks 21 and 22 are sheets of doublewalled corrugated paper board to which the blocks 23 are secured by sodium silicate. The pallet of which Fig. 7 shows a fragment has nine blocks 23 arranged in three rows each of three blocks, to provide for four-way entry. The blocks may be formed by folding a sheet of paper board to form a log and then sawing the log into blocks. Specifications 608,874 and 638,033 are referred to.
