Abstract

1,146,034. Laminates. MEUWISSEN INDUSTRIE N.V. 27 April, 1966 [6 Aug., 19651, No. 18397/66. Heading B5N. [Also in Division B8] An expendable pallet consists of a sheet of flexible material on which a number of packages are stacked so that the lower part of the stack comprises two re-entering corners 4, 5. Side parts 2, 3 are folded along the corners 4, 5 using the stack as a folding gauge. Ends 6, 7 of the folded parts are pinched between two layers of the stack. The forks of a lift truck are indicated at 8. A blank for the pallet may be cut from a roll of the flexible material. As shown, the pallet blank consists of sheets 9, 10 of kraft paper adhered by a moisture resistant, waterproof and corrosion resistant adhesive such as glue or bitumen and reinforced by filaments of natural or synthetic fibres or by steel wires 11 which may be 0À3 to 0À6 mm. in diameter. Annealed iron wires 12 are positioned parallel to the steel wires 11 as these latter tend to spring back and may be bent permanently with difficulty. The distance between the reinforcing wires 11 may increase and/or their thickness decrease from the edges to the middle range of the pallet.
