Abstract

1,160,908. Articles packaged under compression; load handling pallets. TREFILERIES LEON BEKAERT P.V.B.A. 10 Nov., 1966 [18 Nov., 1965], No. 50532/66. Headings B8C and B8H. A package formed by a stack of articles 1 (Figs. 2 and 3) held under compression is reinforced by wire mesh 11. The package may be held under compression by binding 15 (Fig. 3), which is shown wrapped toroidally round a stack of coils 1, or by a bolt 9 joining together end members 6 which may be of wood or plastics. The wire mesh 11 may have its ends welded together, and is secured to the upper and lower members 6 by clips or nails; it may be applied inside or outside, or both, in the embodiment of Fig. 3, and a layer 16 of plywood or plastics may also be applied inside or outside. Spacers 4 (Fig. 2) may separate the layers of the stack, which may be wrapped in sheets 3 of oiled paper. The base of the stack may be formed by a pallet 7 which may be reversible.
