778,024. Measuring torque. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Sept. 14, 1955 [Sept. 27, 1954], No. 26270/55. Class 37. In a device for measuring torsional stress of the type depending on the distortion of the axial field induced in a shaft of magnetrostrictive material by an exciting coil 2, the latter is provided with a shell 5 of magnetic material provided with flanges 6 acting as pole pieces just clear of the shaft. The brushes 4 connected to the meter may co-act with slip rings. Several pairs in parallel may be used. The invention has application in torque regulation where it is desired to distribute the load on two or more machines driven by the same motor, e.g. in driving wood pulp grindstones.
