Abstract

900,549. Measuring electrically. BOULTON PAUL AIRCRAFT Ltd. Aug. 12, 1960 [July 8, 1959], No. 23488/59. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXXV] An electro-mechanical transducer comprises four coils 11, 12, 13 and 14, Fig. 3, wound coaxially around a hollow former in which moves an armature 15 of iron. The coils are connected as shown in Fig. 4, coil 11 forming L11 &c., and the poling of the coils is arranged so that as the armature moves the effect on the mutual inductance between the pairs of coils 11, 13, and 12, 14 is in opposition to the effect on self-inductance which arrangement is said to give an increasing range over which the unbalance voltage of the bridge is linearly related to the movement of armature 15.
