Abstract
777,636. Regulating; valves. SEBEM SOC. ANON. March 28, 1955 [April 28, 1954], No. 8995/55. Class 7 (6). [Also in Groups XXVI and XXIX] A governor-controlled fuel-system (see also Group XXIX) embodies two gear pumps 1 and 22 (see also Group XXVI) the latter supplying fuel to the pressure chamber 25 of a distributer comprising a centrifugal deflector 31, an engine-driven plate 27 with a single opening 30 and a fixed plate 26 incorporating orifices 29 leading to check valves 32 and fuel injectors, not shown. Two lines are branched from the chamber 25; the first controlling the maximum rate of fuel delivery and consisting of a conduit 33 directing fuel on to a conical-headed piston 34 loaded by springs 38 and 39 and slidable in a sleeve 36 embodying two diametrical ports 37 connected to the duct 20; the second circuit comprises a duct 40 connected to the ports 41. Where the engine functions on the Otto cycle the governor piston is joined to an air-throttle valve 42 in the inlet manifold 43 ; such an arrangement is not used with diesel engines. The pump and distributer are aligned and the entire apparatus is arranged as a unit in a single casing. At starting the ports 37 are closed and the engine receives a number of large injections.
