Abstract

774,909. Combing machines. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. May 27, 1955 [June 8, 1954], No. 16806/54. Class 120 (1). A rectilinear combing machine provided with separate electric motors 32, 34 to drive the comb cylinder 11 and cylinder brush 12 has means for transmitting the cylinder drive at alternative speeds for normal running and for the starting and piecing operations. The two-speed drive for the cylinder 11 may be attained by a rheostat or other motor control means or by a mechanical variable speed device. The brush 12 is maintained constantly at full operating speed and a heavy pulley 36 acts as a fly-wheel to minimise speed fluctuations.
