Abstract

774,558. Conduits. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 4, 1956 [Jan. 4, 1955], No. 190/55. Class 36. A conductor 1 for the supply of current to a travelling collector 23 is housed in an integral rubber sheath 4 which is of substantially greater internal dimensions than the parts which it encloses, is supported from above by members which hold the conductor, has a flat, stiff top part 5 and more flexible downwardly extending side parts 6, 7 which bend inwards to meet below the wire. The upper edges 8, 9 may be enlarged and formed with grooves 13, 14 for reinforcing wires 15, 16. The conductor I is supported at intervals by metal ears 2 carried on insulators 3 by bolts passing through the top 5. Some of the ears 2 may have lugs for the attachment of feeder cables which pass through holes in the top 5. Lengths of sheath are joined together by sleeves of the same material. The sheath may be reinforced at intervals by spring clips 30 embracing the top 5 and enlargements 8, 9 and the ends of which may either enter the grooves 13, 14 or be formed as flat fingers pressing against the sides 6, 7.
