Abstract

774,206. Fuel injectors. MASCHINEN FABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT. GES. July 29, 1954 [Aug. 28, 1953] No. 22152/54. Class 7 (3). The tip 3, Fig. 1, of an injection nozzle 1 is provided with a conical packing member 5 of material of high heat conductivity, e.g. copper or aluminium, which rests in a conical base 7 formed in the cylinder head, or in an intermediate member fixed in the cylinder head, the member 5 being pressed into its seat through resilient means 8. In Fig. 1 the injector 1 is held in position by a nut 9 which forces the spring 8, formed by a slotted cylinder, Fig. 1a, against a shoulder on the body part to force the member 5 against its seat and form gas-tight joints against the cylinder and the injector. In a modification the member 5 is seated in a sleeve-like member secured in the cylinder head and surrounding the body of the injector. In Fig. 2 the member 5 is provided with an extension 11 extending into the cylinder head cooling water space 12 and is compressed by a nut 14 entering through a resilient sleeve 13. In a modification the extension 11 surrounds the entire part of the injector situated in the space 12.
