Abstract
774,203. Vehicle underframes. METROPOLITAN-CAMMELL CARRIAGE & WAGON CO., Ltd. Oct. 19, 1955 [July 26, 1954], No. 21754/54. Class 103(6). In a railway wagon or carriage underframe the buffer trimmers are combined with the headstock in a continuous transverse member 12, Fig. 1, extending between sole-bars 10 at a substantial distance in from the end of the frame. Buffer guides 16 are carried by extensions of the solebars and by diagonals 15 which at their outer ends are connected together by end plates 17 and gusset plates 18 welded to them. The extensions of the sole-bars may be inclined inwardly towards the diagonals 15. The inner ends of the diagonals are welded to the head-. stock 12 or to inner transverse members 13. The invention may be applied to an underframe as shown in Specification 584,858, in which the inner longitudinal members 26, Fig. 6, converge towards each end of the frame and terminate in headstocks 25. The members 26 are welded at the centre to sole-bars 27.
