Class 137 An air conditioning unit, comprising a casing c fitted in an opening in a false ceiling wall W, houses a centrifugal fan F, a heat exchanger B, and a motor M where the fan unit is not fitted with an integral motor. The casing is divided into two side passages 20 and a central com-. partment by two vertical partitions 7, 7<SP>1</SP> which join a back wall 13 and are connected by means of strips 6, to two vertical strips 5 which extend across the open front of the casing c to define air intake openings 4 for the side. pasages 20 and an air outlet 3 for the central compartment between the partitions 7, 7<SP>1</SP>. Used air from the room space below the sub-ceiling enters the side passages 20 through the openings 4 and passes into the fan F through openings 11, 11<SP>1</SP> in the back wall 13. Air discharged from an opening 12 in one side of the fan casing passes over the gilled tubes 10 of the heat exchanger B and into the room through opening 3. The fan F is driven by a belt 16 which extends from a pulley on the output shaft of the motor M to a pulley 18 fast with an extension 19 of the fan shaft. An opening 32 in one side of the casing may communicate with a fresh air duct and may be provided with a removable filter. A tray 17 is situated beneath the battery B to catch moisture dropping from the battery B and the associated water piping.
