Abstract
772,579. Floors &c. AKTIEBOLAGET STATENS SKOGSINDUSTRIER. June 17, 1955 [June 24, 1954], No. 17494/55. Class 20(4) [Also in Group XXIV] A sound and vibration insulated structure for floors, pavements, roadways and the like comprises a sub-structure 21, a plurality of spaced apart elastic cushion members 22 uniformly distributed over the substructure. a number of hard board panels 23 resting directly on top of the members 22 and forming. a continuous layer by slightly overlapping each other, and a layer 25 of reinforced concrete cast in situ on top, of the panel layer to form a continuous rigid slab floating on the elastic members 22 and having free peripheral edges. The cushion members 22 are preferably blocks of expanded cork, but rubber or cellular plastics, porous board or steel may be used. The members 22 may be loosely laid on the sub-structure or glued thereto or may be glued or nailed to the panels 23. They may be laid to form a grating or check pattern and need only cover a small area, such as 10-15 per cent, of the sub-structure 21. Spacer strips 24 are arranged round the walls 27 before the concrete layer 25 is poured on and may be of hard board which will be removed or of corrugated cardboard or the like which may be left in place. A top layer 26 of linoleum is shown.
