751,085. Ceilings; walls. PRIGNITZ, H. Oct. 11, 1954 [Oct. 9, 1953], No. 29303/54. Class 20(4). A method of constructing a sound and thermally insulated ceiling comprises supporting on temporary shuttering, not shown, two superposed light weight slabs 1, 3 loosely interconnected by yieldable strip material e.g. wire loops 4, with or without the interposition of spacer blocks 5, 6 which when used are loosely placed in position or rigidly connected to one of the slabs 1 or 3 and are preferably made of a more compressible material than the latter, and pouring concrete 2 onto the upper face of the block 1 preferably having a reinforcement 8 placed thereon. The temporary shuttering is removed when the concrete 2 has set. Layers of rock wool, or paper, may be inserted between the slabs 1, 3 to act as sound dampers. The connecting means may be surrounded with, and be bonded to, vibration damping material which may be of tubular form pushed onto the connecting material with, or without, an air gap. Alternatively the connecting strips may be formed at intervals from vibration damping material. In one embodiment the connecting means is loosely disposed in a recess in the under slab 3, the recess having a covering. This method may also be used for constructing walls.
