Abstract
772,035. Container closures. BAARN, P. S. VAN. Feb. 14, 1955 [Aug. 9, 1954; Nov. 26, 1954], No. 4387/55. Class 125(3). In a container closure comprising a cap 32 which can be screwed down into a sealing position or screwed back into a dispensing position in which the cap screwthread is clear of the corresponding thread 14. on the container neck 12 but the cap is held captive on the neck by a part 40 projecting inwards to engage a flange 16 on the neck, the part 40 is sufficiently resilient to allow it to yield and pass over flange 16 when the cap is forced down during assembly. The container has a plug 20 engaged in the neck and provided with an axial channel 28 and oblique channels 30, the cap being apertured at 44. In a modification, Fig. 3, the plug is movable relatively to the container neck, is of a synthetic resin such as polyvinyl chloride and has a spherical head 50 and cruciform stem 52 flared at 54, the spherical head forming a liquid tight seal. In another modification, Fig. 4, the projecting part is formed by a polygonal spring 60 held in a groove 58. In a further modifiqa- .tion a metal cap has its lower portion inturned and in a still further modification, Fig. 9, the head 72 of the plug has oppositely tapering portions providing seatings for the cap and neck and the plug is retained by a thin metal tail 74.
