Abstract

A composition for a metal bonded abrasive wheel comprises crushed diamond in amount from 1 to 50 volume per cent or other p abrasive such as aluminium oxide, silicon carbide or other hard carbides e.g. boron carbide and tungsten carbide in amount from 1 to 70 volume per cent bonded with a sintered metal bond which contains 17-25 per cent of alpha plus delta bronze of copper with one or more of tin, cadmium, zinc, aluminium, gallium and indium, the bronze containing 15-85 per cent alpha phase and 15-85 per cent delta phase, the remainder of the sintered metal bond being iron with not more than 1.0 per cent of other elements.
