550,806. Abrasive compositions; grinding wheels. NORTON GRINDING WHEEL CO., Ltd. July 22, 1941, No. 9257. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1940. Drawings to Specification. [Class 70] [Also in Group XXIII] An abrasive composition particularly for forming a grinding wheel having a steel centre and an abrasive rim consists of diamond grit in a metal band containing iron, copper and tin which may also contain nickel. The metals may be mixed in equal parts by weight or in such proportions as give not less than 20 per cent. of copper and nickel together, not less than 2 per cent. of iron and nickel, and tin in excess of that which goes into solid solution. The metals in powdered or grit form, preferably electrolytic metals, are mixed with diamond grit, moulded under pressure, and sintered preferably in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. The rim and steel centre may be brazed or soldered with silver solder. Specification 542,053 is referred to.
