A furnace arch comprising tubes associated with refractory material 7 is disposed at the rear end of a combustion chamber of a stationary boiler furnace provided with a travelling grate such that the tubes are arranged transversely to the direction of movement of the grate. The tubes are connected to the water circulation system of the boiler and they may be as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, wherein tubes 2, 2<SP>1</SP> connect to headers 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, respectively, or they may be as shown in Fig. 6, wherein tubes 2, 2<SP>1</SP> still connect to headers 1, 1<SP>1</SP> respectively, but do not cross-over in the centre of the combustion chamber. A number of openings 4 may be provided within the material 7.
