Abstract

771,128. Hinges and pivots. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES), Ltd., J. Aug. 29, 1955 [Sept. 7, 1954], No. 25897/54. Class 65 (2). To enable a lever k which passes through a sealing ring i to pivot about an axis which intersects the ring i the lever is pivotally secured to a fixed member g at a position or positions outside the ring by at least one pair of mutuallyinclined crossing spring blades n, p or wires so disposed that their cross-over point lies on the pivot axis. The lever carries a bar o on one side and a semi-annular plate m is secured to a partition g on the opposite side of the lever. The bar o is pivotally secured to the plate m by two pairs of perpendicularly crossing spring blades n, p, each blade being attached to both the bar o and the plate m by rivets q, so that the lever k can pivot about an axis passing through the cross-over points of each pair of blades. In a modification the spring blades are each inclined at an angle of 45 degrees to a plane passing through the lever.
