Abstract
837,898. Angular bending. BARTON, R. M., and BARTON, K. G. April 2, 1958 [Jan. 3, 1957], No. 278/57. Class 83 (4). Bar-bending means comprises two arms pivoted together at their ends and a central post upstanding from the arms at the pivot, the post having at least one edge or corner substantially parallel to its axis and each arm having a projection upstanding from it adjacent to, and on the same side as, the central post. Levers 1 and 2 are pivoted together by a bolt 4 secured to a bifurcated end of the lever 2 and passing through an annular ball-bearing 5 in the end of the lever 1. A rectangularsectioned post 3 extends axially from the bolt 4, a lug 8 on the lever 2 supports a hardened pressure pad 9, and a roller 12 is mounted, on a bush 13, on an upstanding pin 14 on the lever 1. A notch is cut in one side of the lever 2 to accommodate the roller 12 as the levers are closed together. Each lever has a tubular outer portion 21. In a modification, Fig. 5, the lever 2 comprises an outer handle part pivoted at 24 to an inner bifurcated end and locked in an adjustable position by a flattened pin 28 engaging one of a number of bores 25, 26 interconnected by a slot 27. The other lever 1 may be provided with a length scale.
