Class 59 [Also in Group XXX] The junction between a feed shoot 5 and the grinding chamber 1 of a hammer mill is shaped as a venturi throat 8. A flap 10 is hinged at 12 inside the feed shoot in such a way that it can be opened inwardly of the shoot to permit material to be fed into the grinding chamber, the flap being of such weight that it will not be opened by the flow of air created by rotation of the hammer rotor. The upper part of the shoot is inclined to receive a feeding tray, hopper or other feeding device; alternatively, the shoot may be vertical. Specification 712,350 is referred to.
