Abstract

1,137,695. Tobacco manufacture. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. 7 March, 1967 [18 March, 1966], No. 25236/68. Divided out of 1,137,694. Heading A2C. [Also in Division B2] The subject-matter of this Specification is included in the parent Specification but the claims are concerned with a tobacco leaf transfer device 10 for feeding a tobacco mixture to a classifier S and comprising a closed housing having tobacco inlet and exit opening located opposite each other and to one side of a central baffle 14 to the other side of which is provided an air exit opening 24 having a suction blower 22 connected thereto for drawing air from the housing, an air lock rotor 16 being located at the tobacco exit opening. The tobacco mixture is introduced into the device 10 by pneumatic means located in a previous classifier, thresher or other mixture supply device with the further aid of suction created by the blower 22. The baffle 14 and a screen 25 prevent the mixture from entering the blower.
