Abstract

768,387. Rotary switches. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Nov. 30, 1954 [Dec. 1, 1953], No. 34684/54. Class 38(5) A switch comprises a rotatable flat insulating cam adapted to be interposed between two pairs of normally-closed spring contacts to open them, the arrangement being such that the open and closed conditions of the contact pairs are reversed over different angular intervals of the cam's position. Two pairs of normallyclosed spring contacts 16, 17 and 18, 19 are mounted on a conducting ring 12 to which the contacts 17, 19 are connected, the contacts 16, 18 being connected to terminals 25, 26 respectively. The contact faces of springs 16, 17 are nearer to the axis of ring 12 than are those of springs 18, 19. An insulating member 28 on a rotary shaft 27 is shaped so as to provide a 90 degrees sector HABC which passes between contacts 18, 19 to separate them during part of the rotation of the shaft. Similarly, the member 28 has a cut-away portion DEFG permiting closure of contacts 16, 17 during part of the rotation of the shaft.
