Abstract

594,589. Snap-action switches. CRAIG, A. M. Feb. 17, 1945, No. 4048. [Class 38(v)] In a switch in which the contacts are controlled by an angularly-movable member, the member comprises a cam 13 adapted to operate movable contact-carrying members 19 by means of a roller 18 in such a way as to separate the contacts against the action of springs 25. The cam 13, non- rotatably mounted on a spindle 26, is preferably circular with one or more arcuate recesses 14 co-operating with the rollers 18 which slide in recesses 16 in an insulating block 9. Each member 19 has contacts 21 co-operating with fixed contacts 22. By suitably choosing the position of recesses 14, the contacts can be opened and closed simultaneously. Two or more such structures may be mounted one above the other. To maintain the spindle 26 in any one of its positions, it may carry a star wheel co-operating with two spring plungers, Fig. 2 (not shown).
