Abstract

1,260,274. Arc control in switches. BASSANI S.p.A. 5 Feb., 1970 [9 April, 1969], No 5615/70. Heading H1N. An electric switch has a main contact carrying member 19 within arcing contact carrying member 8 both of which are pivoted on pin 7 mounted in switch member 4. The main contact 22 is biased towards fixed main contact 3 by spring 23, and arcing contact 12 biased towards fixed arcing contact 2 by spring 17. The arcing and main contacts are so spaced as to ensure that the arcing contacts make before and break after the main contacts. The contact carrier 19 and the main contacts could be duplicated, both such contact carriers would however be disposed within the contact carrier 8. The movable member 4 is pivoted on a shaft (5) driven by some unspecified means.
