Abstract
713,994. Mechanical switches, without quick action. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. April 15, 1952 [April 20, 1951], No. 9452/52. Class 38(5) The switch comprises spaced parallel insulating walls having contact on the outer faces thereof and terminals on the adjacent inner faces, a rotor passing through the walls and carrying two conducting bridges which are pressed against the fixed contacts by a spring arranged between the rotor and one of the bridges. The rotor 70 slidingly carries contact bridges 73, 79 respectively cooperating with sets of contacts 76 ... 78, and 82 &c. Contacts 76 ... 78 are mounted on a partition 22 and contacts 82 &c. an a support 71 located on the opposite face thereof by projections 72. The bridges are biased by the spring 86 compressed between the bridge 79 and the end of the rotor. The rotor 70 has a recess receiving a D-shaped extension 63 of an actuating spindle 29 which carries an apertured disc 66 co-operating with a locating ball 69. The partition 22 also carries further sets of contacts 49 ... 54 in one plane, and 60 ... 62 on a raised portion 59 of the partition. These contacts co-operate with spring-loaded bridges 43, 55 carried by an insulating block 32 on a second spindle 28. The member 32 is located in its several positions by a spring 34 engaging peripheral recesses 33 therein, and rotation, other than between the Fig. 2 position and the next position clockwise, may be prevented by an arm 38 cooperating with a recess 40 in member 32, the arm 38 being carried by a.third spindle 30 and being urged against the edge of member 32 by a spring 39. The partition 22 is secured in a waterproof manner between two housing parts 20, 21, the spindles 28, 29, 30 passing in a waterproof manner through part 20. The fixed contacts are connected to each other and to the external circuits in such a way that, when the spindle 28 is in its " off " position, all of the circuits are open regardless of the position of spindle 29.
