Abstract

974,642. Mechanical switches, without quick action. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. July 27, 1962 [July 28, 1961], No. 28889/62. Heading H2B. A multiple rotary switch assembly comprises a plurality of insulating housing bodies 14, each recessed to accommodate a rotatable disc 15 of resin-bonded paper bearing conducting portions, e.g. in the form of a printed circuit 27, a common operating spindle 26 rotatable relative to said bodies 14 and fixedly connected with each disc 15, and a pair of spring contact arms 16, 17, with their free ends 19 bearing on the disc surfaces to perform switching functions when the discs are rotated. Extensions 18 of arms 16, 17 are located in openings in the bodies 14, and each pair of arms is sandwiched between adjacent bodies when nuts 23 are tightened on the rods 22 before cementing the bodies together. Spindle 26 is connected with spindle 2 which extends into an arrester housing 1 separated from the bodies 14 by a cover plate 8. A spring-pressed pin 3 on spindle 2 locates in openings 10 in a fixed drum ring 5 to define the switching positions. A stop pin 12 on the spindle 2 engages one or other of two stops 6<SP>1</SP> carried by two adjustably fixed toothed stop rings to limit the range of rotary movement of the spindle 2. Markings 29 on the end of spindle 2 indicate its position, while an extension to the spindle is attachable if required. Soldering tags 20 extend from the arms 16, 17, for engagement with a printed circuit board (Fig. 2, not shown).
