Abstract
1,025,845. Mechanical switches, without quick action. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Aug. 1, 1963 [Aug. 2, 1962], No. 29708/62. Heading H2B. A multi-position rotary switch comprises an annular body 1 of insulating material having four sets of fixed contacts, such as 6a, 6b and 7a, 7b, moulded therein flush with the inner surface thereof. A bridging contact 13, shaped as shown, is spring-loaded to slide radially in an arbor 10 rotatable by shaft 11. A flange 4 extends inwardly from body 1 and has recesses, such as 5a and 5c, co-operating with the central part of contact 13 to locate the four switch positions and between these positions the flange 4 depresses contact 13 into arbor 10, thereby lifting the contact 13 clear of the fixed contacts and intermediate insulation during switching movements.
