Abstract

767,530. Releasable fastenings. F.T. PRODUCTS, Ltd. May 27, 1955 [June 2, 1954], No. 16374/54. Class 44. [Also in Group X] A fastener comprises a single strip of spring metal bent to U-shape so as to have a web 20 and two limbs 21, 22, a square-nosed prong formed in each limb so as to be directed inwardly and towards the web and a spring tongue 19 formed in one of the limbs 21 so as to be directed outwardly and away from the web. As shown, two prongs 14-17 are formed on each limb. A plurality of such clips. Fig. 2, are used for securing a roof pad 12 which may be made of compressed fabric, for example, to the roof 10 of a motor vehicle. The clips are secured at spaced intervals to one edge of the pad by forcing the prongs 14 to 17 into the pad and the edge carrying the clips is then pushed into a channel member 11 which is secured to the roof 10 and the spring tongues 19 engage an inturned lip 11A of the channel to prevent the pad coming away from the channel. The opposite edge of the pad is either rigidly secured to the roof or slidably mounted behind a flange secured to the roof.
