898,904. Securing knobs on shafts. F.T. PRODUCTS Ltd. March 15, 1961 [Dec. 15, 1959], No. 29549/61. Divided out of 897,465. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXV] A fastener 10 comprises a single strip of resilient material of substantially U-shape having two limbs 11, 12 joined by a web 13 in which each limb is bowed cylindrically about the longitudinal axis of the fastener and at least one of the limbs is formed with at least one inwardly and rearwardly directed prong 14 or 15 and at least one outwardly and forwardly directed claw 16 or 17 and wherein there is sheared and bent from at least one of the limbs at least one arcuate spring tongue 19 of radius less than that of the limbs, the tongue or tongues being bent inwardly with respect to the limbs 11 and 12. As shown, the fastener is used to secure a knob 22 to a shaft 20, the prongs 14, 15 engaging a groove 23 and the shaft and the claws 16, 17 biting into the wall of the bore 21 of the knob.
