Abstract

742,453. Clip fastenings. F. T. PRODUCTS, Ltd. Dec. 17, 1953 [Dec. 17, 1952], No. 35211/53. Class 44. [Also in Group X] A fastener comprises a single strip of spring metal bent to channel shape, having in at least one of its two flanges 32, 33 a prong with its point directed inwardly and towards the web 34 of the channel and having a portion of its web sheared and pressed to the shape of a spring tongue 29 lying roughly parallel with the general plane of the web but spaced therefrom on the side opposite the flanges. As shown, each flange has a prong 25-27 at each end and the tongue 29 is also formed with two similar inwardly directed prongs 30, 31. The fastener is used for securing a channel-section window guide rail to an automobile body, the tongue 29 entering an aperture in a body panel or engaging the edge of a panel and with the rail in the channel. In a modification the tongue 29 is formed so that it lies longitudinally of the fastener instead of transversely and its root end is formed with a detent which when the tongue has been pushed into a hole in a panel engages the hole to prevent any removal of the fastener.
