Description

Clamp for Fastening Joints in Ductwork for Ventilation Systems Object of the Invention The invention refers to a damp for fastening joints in ductwork for ventilation systems, to be used in ventilation ductwork made out of tubular o parts such as tubes, straight unions, elbows or "T" parts, provided with male and female ends for its coupling together, preferably with intermediate gaskets.
This fastening damp has features aimed at fixing the male end and the s female end of two subsequent parts after its coupling together forming a joint in a ventilation ductwork.
Prior Art
Patent application P 201000824, of the same applicant, describes a ductwork for fluids with fittings or connecting parts having in its external region elastic gaskets for tight assembly with tubular parts formed by straight tubes and straight fittings or angle or 7" fittings.
The assembly of said elastic gaskets contributes to guarantee the tightness of the joints or couplings of the parts forming the ductwork, reducing the pressure drop of the assembly and consequently improving the energetic performance of the whole ventilation system.
The assembly of the elastic gaskets between the male and female mouths of the tubular bodies forming the same joint contributes to provide, for at least a given period of time, the adequate tightness of the joint. Prior to said Spanish patent of invention application P 201000824 the tightness of the joints was obtained by means of the application of an adhesive tape or an ss adhesive material on the region of the joint.
With the lapse of time the shortcoming has been observed that the male and female portions of subsequent tubular parts, which are assembled to each other to form a joint, may perform movements relative to each other whether for mechanical reasons, for instance external blows, for thermal reasons or other, which may provoke in the joint the total or partial release of the male and female portions forming the part of the joint, with the subsequent losses in the flow of the fluid which circulates along the ductwork.
The applicant does not know of the existence of prior art embodiments permitting to satisfactorily solve the above stated problems.
Description of the Invention
To solve the above mentioned shortcomings a fastening clamp for joints in ductwork for ventilation systems has been developed, which is the object of the present invention, which shows a high constructive simplicity and enjoys an easy assembly, having characteristics aimed at preventing the relative c movement of the male and female portions of the tubular elements forming the joints, preventing its total or partial release, and accordingly the appearance of leaks in said joints.
This fastening clamp comprises the features of claim 1, mainly consisting in a body with a general structure of a "U" with a first branch, a second branch and a core or intermediate part, defining among them a void to receive the end portion of the female member forming the joint, said clamp having at least in a first branch a first oblique pointed extension aimed at retaining the male portion of the joint, which first pointed extension protrudes towards the external side part of the first branch being oriented in a direction opposite to the core or intermediate part of the clamp.
The clamp has additionally in its first branch and/or in its second branch a second oblique pointed extension for retaining the clamp in the assembly position in respect to the female portion of the joint; said second pointed extension protruding towards the internal side part of said first and/or second branch, being oriented towards the core or intermediate part of the clamp, Based on the above structure, to fasten the male and female portions of the parts forming the joint, it will be sufficient to insert on the front end of the female portion of the joint one or more clamps so that its first branch is introduced between the male portion and the female portion of said parts of the joint after being assembled together.
The first pointed extension of the first branch of the clamp introduced between the male and female portions of the joint, has a tendency to pinch the material of the male portion, given its protruding arrangement, preventing that said male portion may displace in respect to the male portion of the joint. At the same time, the clamp remains fastened to the female portion of the joint by the action of the second pointed extension defined on the first branch and/or on the second branch of the clamp, having the tendency to pinch the material of said female portion of the joint, preventing the disassembly of the clamp.
The above and other additional features of the invention which form part of the depending claims will be more easily understood considering the example embodiments of the invention shown in the annexed figures of drawings.
Description of the Drawings
To complement the description of the invention and with the aim to facilitate the understanding of the features of the same a set of drawings is annexed to this description, which in an illustrative and non limiting way show as follows: - Figure 1 shows a perspective view of an example of an embodiment of a clamp for the fastening of joints in ductwork for ventilation systems, according to the invention, having two branches, each of them with first externally protruding pointed extensions and second pointed extensions protruding towards internal part of the clamp.
- Figure 2 shows a side view of the clamp of Figure 1.
Figure 3 shows a perspective view of a variant embodiment of the Lia clamp of the above figures of drawings in which one of the branches is devoid of the first pointed extensions oriented towards the external part of the clamp.
-Figure 4 shows an exploded section view of two tubular parts of a ventilation ductwork aimed at being assembled by tonguing and two fastening clamps for retaining the same in the assembly position.
- Figure 5 shows an enlarged detail view of the two parts of the ventilation ductwork of Figure 3 after its assembly together, with a fastening damp, in the operative position to hold the joint.
Preferred Embodiment of the Invention In the embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2 the clamp (1) has a body with the general form of a "U", with a first branch (la), a second branch (ib) and a core or intermediate portion (1c); having both the first branch (la) and the second branch (ib) in its ends respective first pointed extensions (11), obliquely arranged, protruding towards the external side of the corresponding branch (la, lb), being oriented in a direction opposite to the core or intermediate part (1c) of the clamp (1).
The first branch (la) and the second branch (ib) have second pointed oblique extensions (12) protruding towards the inside part of the corresponding branch (la, lb) being oriented towards the core or intermediate part (1c) of the clamp.
In said figures 1 and 2 the first branch (la) and the second branch (lb) are symmetrically arranged in respect to the mean longitudinal plane of the clamp (1), both branches having first pointed extensions (11) and second pointed extensions (12) as above mentioned.
The first pointed extensions (11) and the second pointed extensions (12) of the same branch (la, ib) are coplanar and are defined in an end portion (14) forming with the corresponding branch an angle (a) of less than 90°.
In the embodiment shown as an example in figure 3, a variant of the fastening clamp of figures 1 and 2 has been represented, in which the second branch (ib) of the clamp is devoid of the first extensions (11) having in this case the second branch (lb) an oblique end portion (15) oriented towards the external side of said second branch (2) and coplanar with the second pointed extensions (12) of said second branch (ib).
In the example of embodiment shown in figure 4, an exploded view has been represented of two tubular parts (4a, 4b) of a ventilation ductwork, in particular a tube and a straight joint, having a male portion (41) and a 23 female portion (42) for its tongued coupling together, a gasket (5) being arranged between both tubular parts (4a, 4b).
As may be observed in figure 5, once assembled the parts (4a, 4b) it will be sufficient to incorporate some clamps (1) on the female portion (42) so that an end section of said female portion is inserted inside of the reception void defined between the first branch (la), the second branch (ib) and the core portion (lc) of the clamp (1). After this assembly the second pointed extensions (12) of the branches (1a, lb) oriented towards the internal part of the clamp and toward the back of the same, that is towards the core or intermediate part ('L c), pinch into the material, for instance plastic material, of the part (4b) preventing the disassembly of the clamp in respect to the female portion (42) of said part (4b).
When introducing the male portion (41) of the other part (4a) into the female portion (42) the first pointed extensions (11) of the first branch (la) obliquely oriented towards the external part of the clamp and opposed to the core (1c), pinch into the material of the part (4a) preventing that the male portion (41) may be displaced or accidentally disassembled from the female portion (42) of the other part.
Once sufficiently described the nature of the invention as well as an example of a preferred embodiment, it is stated to all effects that the materials, shape, size and arrangement of the described elements may by modified whenever this does not mean an alteration of the essential characteristics of the invention which is claimed as follows.
