Abstract

766,983. Laminated materials. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Oct. 17, 1952 [July 17, 1951], No. 16929/51. Class 140. [Also in Group XXXIX] An' ultrasonic wave coupling (see Group XXXIX) comprises alternate thin laminations of high and low wave velocity materials. The laminations 6 of high velocity material are of steel, silver, or brass and the other laminations 7 are of polymethyl methacrylate or epoxy resin applied as a cement or of laminated paper impregnated with phenol-formaldehyde resin and cemented with epoxy resin. The high velocity laminations 6 are thicker than the low velocity laminations 7. The laminations are not thicker than one-tenth of a wavelength of waves in the composite material at a frequency of ¢ Mc/s. A piezo-electric element 3 is mounted on the coupling.
